Position overview
The Head of Finance leads all financial operations for Hydroscand UK, ensuring robust financial planning, reporting, and compliance. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, while driving cost efficiency and profitability. Responsible for strategic financial guidance to the leadership team, it includes managing audits, tax obligations, and risk controls. The position also supports business growth through data-driven insights and ensures alignment with corporate governance and UK regulatory standards.
Financial Planning and Analysis:
· Develop and maintain financial models to forecast and analyse business performance.
· Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
· Prepare and present financial reports and insights to the General Manager and senior management team.
Budgeting and Cost Control:
· Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor budget adherence throughout the year.
· Implement cost control measures to optimise expenditure and improve profitability.
· Analyse and report on budget variances and recommend corrective actions.
Acquisition Integration:
· Lead the financial integration of new acquisitions, ensuring smooth transition and alignment with company standards and processes.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor integration plans.
Rent Reviews and Expansion:
· Oversee and lead negotiations for all ongoing rent reviews to ensure favourable terms.
· Manage and coordinate any future building or territory expansions or relocations.
· Evaluate and negotiate terms for new leases or property acquisitions.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
· Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
· Maintain compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
· Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed.
Strategic Financial Initiatives:
· Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and execute strategic financial initiatives.
· Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business growth and operational efficiency.
· Evaluate potential investments, acquisitions, and other strategic opportunities.
Team Leadership and Development:
· Manage and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration within the finance team and with other departments.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA) is preferred.
· Proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role, preferably within the industrial or service sectors.
· Strong Knowledge of UK GAAP, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
· Financial Planning & Analysis Expertise: Budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial management.
· ERP/Finance Systems Proficiency: Familiarity with modern financial software and reporting tools.
Desirable
· Master’s Degree (MBA or similar).
· Experience in international business or working within a group structure.
· Knowledge of process improvement and cost optimisation.

Hydroscand established in the UK in 2002 with two Hydraulic and Industrial Centres. The business has grown significantly and now offers eleven trade counters and thirty mobile hose workshops, supported by a central warehouse in Nottingham. In 2022, we celebrated our twentieth anniversary in the UK and have ambitious plans to continue this growth in the coming years.
