HR IT Specialist (Year in Industry) – UK & Sweden
Kick-start your IT career with an opportunity to see how HR utilises IT in an international company. As our HR IT Specialist (Year in Industry), you’ll help keep our HR systems, data and digital ways of working running smoothly, so colleagues in the UK and at our Sweden head office have the information and tools they need. This is a hands-on placement where you’ll learn in a real business environment, build confidence with stakeholders, and take on meaningful work from day one. It’s ideal for students studying IT, Business or HR, with a strong interest in digital tools, data and process improvement.
Working with the UK HR Business Partner and the Sweden HRIS project Lead, this role will include occasional travel to Sweden.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the day-to-day administration and continuous improvement of HR systems, maintaining user access, supporting standard changes, and escalating technical issues to the right owners, while also getting exposure to how new tools are selected, helping with roll-outs, and supporting/training colleagues to use systems confidently and securely. You’ll look for opportunities to digitally improve the day-to-day functionality of HR processes (reducing manual steps and making tasks easier for users).
Help maintain accurate HR data by running checks, spotting inconsistencies, and supporting data clean-up activities. Where appropriate, you’ll also help produce simple reports and dashboards for HR stakeholders in the UK and Sweden.
Document “how we do it” processes and improve them: create clear step-by-step guides, update templates, and suggest smarter ways of working (automation, standardisation, reducing manual steps) as you learn how HR and the business operate.
Act as a first point of contact for everyday “how do I?” questions, helping users with guidance, troubleshooting and clear communications. You may also support the creation of short training materials or intranet updates when changes are rolled out.
Support HR technology and change projects (UK & Sweden), such as testing updates, coordinating feedback from users, tracking actions, and helping ensure changes are implemented smoothly.
Work with a high level of confidentiality and care: follow data protection and access principles, keep records tidy, and handle sensitive HR information appropriately at all times.
Skills & Traits we’re looking for:
Self-starter mindset: comfortable working with limited structure at times, taking initiative, and proposing solutions (this is our first Year in Industry placement, so your ability to make things happen matters).
Resilient and adaptable: able to stay organised and positive when priorities change, systems evolve, or you need to learn something new quickly.
Strong digital skills: confident with Microsoft 365 (especially Excel), quick to pick up new systems, and interested in how technology can improve service and efficiency.
Attention to detail: careful with data accuracy, documentation and version control, with a logical approach to investigating issues and following steps through.
Clear communicator: able to explain technical steps in plain English, build relationships with HR and IT stakeholders, and ask the right questions when requirements aren’t clear.
Trust and discretion: comfortable handling sensitive information and understanding why data privacy, security and access controls matter in an HR environment.
This placement could suit you if you’re studying IT, Business, HR (or a related degree) and want to build real-world experience in HR technology, data and digital ways of working. A willingness to learn and get stuck in is more important than having done the role before.
